Hot Flushes and/or Night Sweats due to Menopause in Women Ages 40-65

Inclusions:

  • Women 40-65
  • Women who experience hot flushes and/or night sweats as a result of menopause
  • Spontaneous amenorrhea (natural cessation of menstrual cycle) for > 12 months or
  • Spontaneous amenorrhea (natural cessation of menstrual cycle) for > 6 months with FSH > 40 IU/L (We will do this lab)
  • Bilateral oopherectomy (removal of both ovaries with or without hysterectomy) > 6 months from screening visit

Exclusions

  • BMI < 18 or > 38 (inclusive)
  • Partial hysterectomy without bilateral oopherectomy (removal of the uterus/cervix while leaving ovaries intact)
  • Uncontrolled high-blood pressure
  • History of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV
  • History of seizures or convulsive disorder
  • Alcohol or drug abuse < 12 months
  • Suicidal ideations/behaviors/thoughts/attempts < 12 months
  • Any history of any cancer except basal cell carcinoma of the skin (squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma are exclusionary)
